The KWPN breeding society has released the statistics of the registered foals of 2012. The information revealed that the KWPN Performance Test winner Charmeur was the most used stallion in 2011 with the highest amount of foals born in 2012.
The 6-year old KWPN licensed Charmeur (by Florencio x Jazz) has 301 KWPN foals registered in 2012 despite an overall reduced number of breedings in 2011.
Charmeur was the winner of the 2010 KWPN Stallion Performance Testing. Under Emmelie Scholtens the strapping chestnut went on to win the Pavo Cup Finals in 2011 and 2012. He also represented The Netherlands at the 2012 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, where he finished fifth in the finals.
The second best represented sire is Johnson (by Jazz x Flemmingh) with 202 foals registered, followed by Apache (by UB40 x Krack C) with 199 foals.
The KWPN breeding top five for dressage is completed by Bretton Woods (by Johnson x De Niro) with 170 foals and Uphill (by Oscar x Apollonios xx) with 143 foals.
One of the long-time most used stallions in The Netherlands, Jazz (by Cocktail x Ulster), now ranks 6th with 100 offspring. He is followed by Chippendale (92), Florencio (86) and Voice (84). Suprisingly low was the amount of registered foals by Vivaldi (by Krack C x Jazz); only 33.
The popularity and excessive stud fee of Totilas (by Gribaldi x Glendale) are not so much in favour in Holland. The world champion only sired 13 KWPN branded foals in 2012.
