The 5-year old dark bay stallion Rosarius (by Rhaposario x Chromatico x Amigo) was named champion of the 2013 Austrian Warmblood Stallion Licensing held in Stadl Paura on Saturday 9 February 2013.
Rosarius is already a decorated stallion in Austria, winning the 2011 Austrian Young Horse Championships as a 3-year old and becoming reserve champion in 2012 as a 4-year old. He also concluded the 30-day Stallion Performance Test in Stadl Paura with a score of 8,05. Rosarius is bred by Hermann Karnitschnig.
The German bred 5-year old chestnut stallion Leon d'Or (by Londonderry) became the reserve champion of the licensing. He is owned Agyd Pengg. He stood out with his correct conformation and excellent basic gaits.
Three further Austrian bred colts stood out in the crop: Fantastico (by Fidertanz), Faustus MBH (by Fit For Fun) and Neru (by Montender).
Two older stallions received a positive verdict: the 11-year old Austrian bred black stallion Don Juan (by Degas) which is competed at S-level by Christian Schumach, and the 22-year old black Oldenburg stallion Canaster I (by Caprimond x Vollkorn xx).
Twenty-two young colts were presented at the 2013 Austrian Licensing and 16 fulfilled the criteria to be allowed to participate in the Stallion Performance Test. Three of them were named premium: Johann Breinesel's chestnut colt Derano (by Don Primus) which was 2010 Austrian Foal Champion, Christian Aschauer's dark bay David (by Davignon II) and Alfred Leser's top jumping colt Cortese (by Chico's Boy).
