Danish Olympic team rider Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein took her second victory of the weekend at the inaugural Al Shaqab CDI Doha in Qatar on 29 - 30 March 2013. Aboard her 16-year old home bred Danish warmblood gelding Digby (by Donnerhall x Sandro) she secured the Grand Prix kur to music win on Saturday evening with a score of 78.825%.
“I am very pleased today with my win. The horse today was very nice to ride. He was great and the show was great, everything was just fantastic,” explained Nathalie. “My music was based on French songs and had been tailor-made for the Olympics. I can still feel that the routine is not perfect and I will have to run through it a series of times before I really know it. I have only ridden it four times and I still feel like there is room for improvement, but my horse and I did really well.”
Country mate and fellow Olympian Lisbet Seierskilde finished second aboard her home bred Danish warmblood gelding Jongstrupgaardens Raneur (by Ragazzo x Schwadroneur). This duo posted a score of 74.525%.
Swedish Patrik Kittel and the Oatley family's Swedish warmblood gelding Toy Story (by Come Back II) completed the top three with a 74.275% and a third place finish.
