Canada’s Karen Pavicic of British Columbia and her 11-year-old Oldenburg Don Daiquiri (by Don Cardinale x Rubinstein I) won the blue ribbon at the 2013 Golden State Dressage CDI3* in Rancho Murieta with a sold score of 66.725% in the Grand Prix class.
The Canadian national anthem was also played for Pavicic and “Dono” when they clearly won the Grand Prix Freestyle earlier in the winter season at the Burbank, CA, Mid Winter CDI3* with a 70.100%. In addition the pair demonstrated strong performances at The Festival of the Horse CDI3* in San Juan Capistrano where they also received 70% in the Grand Prix Freestyle for third place.
With Dono only in his second year at Grand Prix, Pavicic expects him to continue to rise in the standings with their scores growing at the rate they have in the past three months. She is particularly proud of their freestyle in which they perform to the music compilation of the soundtrack from The River (John Williams), Something Beautiful (Newsboys) and David Arkenstone.
“Our success is due in part to a strong relationship with our personal coach, Dirk Glitz whom I’ve worked with for several years,” says Pavicic.
The Golden State Dressage CDI3* at Murieta Equestrian Center near Sacramento also saw the pair take second in the Grand Prix Special with a 65.754% behind Brian Hafner on Lombardo HGF, who finished second in the Grand Prix.
A Canadian NCCP Level III certified dressage coach, Pavicic has represented her country at international levels for two decades including as a member of the Canadian 2007 Silver Medal Pan American Games team. Surrey, B.C., is home to Pavicic. Don Daiquiri is owned in partnership with Jayne Essig.
