While the Western European show held on the weekend of 2 - 5 May were blessed with sunshine, the 2013 CDI Radzionkow in Poland had to deal with occasional downpours of rain. The weather, however, did not dampen spirits and a large contingent of European riders travelled to the professionally organized event.
Danish pony rider Malene Aborg reigned supreme on the Dutch bred Welsh pony Westerhuis Jorik (by Coelenhage's Purioso x Vita Nova's Golden Boris). Aborg and her chestnut gelding won the team and individual test as well as the kur to music. The 15-year old Aborg has been riding Jorik since November 2009.
In the Junior Riders division fellow Austrians Anna Lutonsky and Kristina Sober swapped placed. Whereas Lutonsky won the team test and kur on the Westfalian bred Final Destination (by Florestan). The chestnut is owned by Thomas Wimpissinger and used to be ridden by British Julia Coppard. Kristina Sober won the individual test aboard Perfect Illusion SJP (by Pierot x Mytens).
Whereas Austrian Florian Lorenz started off with a win in the Young Riders' team test, his rival and local hero Mateusz Cichon captured both tropies in the individual test and kur to music. Cichon competed Eldreman, a Holsteiner by Aljano x Loutano.
The small and big tour tests were dominated by the professionals. German Heike Kemmer won the Intermediaire I on her new mount Rock My Soul, and continued a winning streak in the Grand Prix and Special with Quantico (by Quattro B). The bay Rock My Soul (by Rivero II x Don Primero) was a price highlight at the 2004 Schwaiganger Foal Auction, selling for 11,000 euro. He was trained to M-level by Anja Hillmann before Kemmer took over.
Polish Katarzyna Milczarek won the Prix St Georges with the impressive 7-year old liver chestnut Dżeko (by Dimaggio x Continue). Milczarek also captured the Grand Prix Kur to Music victory aboard her longtime partner Ekwador (by Heraldik xx x Corofino I). Polish Gabriela Jaworska-Mazur led the Intermediaire I Kur field aboard Zimba (by Sheraton x Amulet).
