British Dressage announced that Dutch European Dressage Champion and 2012 Olympian, Adelinde Cornelissen, will be the guest speaker for this year’s British Dressage Convention, Saturday 23 November and Sunday 24 November 2013 at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire.
Adelinde is currently listed number one in the FEI World Individual Dressage rankings with her most famous ride to date, the Dutch bred Jazz gelding Parzival.
This year the pair finished second in the final of the 2013 World Cup Dressage on a world class score of 86.500%, following three wins during the series that led up to the finale in Gothenburg. In total the pair have notched up four gold medals, a silver and a bronze at European Championship level.
A former English teacher, in 2008 Adelinde gave up her career to concentrate on competing and that year was selected with Parzival as the Dutch reserve rider at the Beijing Olympics.
In 2011/2012 the partnership won back to back FEI World Cup finals and were ranked no.1 in the world going into the London 2012 Olympics. They came home with a team bronze and an individual silver.
Famous for her belief in the importance of physical and mental fitness for riders, as well as diet, Adelinde appeared at the 2012 Global Dressage Forum to demonstrate her diverse personal fitness programme which is known to include gymnastics, handball and boxing.
She is also an advocate of the efficacy of mental strength and training, attributing much of her success to the improvement in her mental conditioning, “What you can achieve mentally is incredible. What you think and how you think influences a lot.”
A great communicator as well as being renowned for her charismatic and exciting partnership with Parzival, Adelinde is sure to engage and inspire the audience for this year’s convention.
