German Olympic team rider Dorothee Schneider has been hired to train some of Gestut Peterhof's best dressage horses, including World Young Horse champion mare Donna Unique.
The Framersheim based Grand Prix rider has already competed Arlette Jasper-Kohl's 8-year old Hanoverian Derano (by De Niro x Warkant ) at the regional show in Ludwigsburg. The combination will try to qualify for the Nurnberger Burgpokal on home turf at the 2013 CDI Perl in July.
"Dorothee Schneider will be riding, training and competing the horses of Gestut Peterhof in the future," Jasper-Kohl released in a press statement.
The Gestut Peterhof string of horses includes the renowned Donna Unique (by Don Schufro x Falkland). Under Andreas Helgstrand the mare became World Young Horse Champion in 2010. In January 2012 she sold the Kohl family, who was sponsoring Patrik Kittel at the time.
Kittel and Donna Unique produced top scores at small tour level that year, but in September 2012 the two parted ways. Soon afterwards Ulla Salzgeber took over the ride, but that lasted only a few weeks. At the same time the controversial story of the sale of Donna Unique from Denmark to Germany was published in the press revealing that about one million euro went missing and initially landed in the pockets of Helgstrand unaccounted for, whereas Kittel received a large sum as commission fee for the deal.
Gestut Peterhof's resident trainer is the Israeli Eyal Zlatin. He has been compaigning the Grand Prix level competed Silvano (by Rubinstein I x Cocktail) at small tour level.
