American dressage rider Caroline Roffmann has been forced to withdraw her small tour horse Her Highness O from further competition at the 2013 CDIO Aachen this weekend.
Roffman and the Hanoverian mare Her Highness O (by Hohenstein x Weltmeyer) successfully competed in Wednesday's Prix St Georgrs test at the 2013 CDIO Aachen. The pair scored 71.026% and finished seventh.
Unfortunately after the rider the black mare became sick with signs of mild colic. U.S. team vet Dr. Rick Mitchell inspected the mare. She was first treated in the on site equine clinic and then transported to a nearby veterinary clinic for observation.
"We spent last night with her and she is stable now and with some luck and prayers she might be okay to come back to the show to our team today," Roffman explained. "This surely puts things in perspective because with no hesitation the health and happiness of your horse is all that really matters."
Roffman is competing her Grand Prix horse Sagacious HF (by Welt Hit II) in the Under 25 Intermediaire II on Friday.
