Belgian 2012 Grand Prix dressage Champion Jeroen Devroe will be unavailable for Belgian team selection for the 2013 European Dressage Championships in Herning, Denmark, due to an injury to his horse Apollo van het Vijverhof.
A hoof infection has meddled with Devroe's plan to campaign his Belgian warmblood gelding by Welt Hit II this entire 2013 outdoor show season.
In order to prove fitness in front of the selectors and be considered for team selection based on merit, Devroe had to compete Apollo this weekend at the 2013 Belgian Dressage Championships in Hulsterlo, but the duo has withdrawn from participation. Devroe already missed out on the 2012 Olympic Games due to a similar injury last year.
The 2013 Belgian Dressage Championships kicked off yesterday and not Belgian Olympian Claudia Fassaert is in the lead, but rising star Simon Missiaen on Vradin (by Gribaldi).
