Spanish Grand Prix rider Jordi Domingo Coll and his Hanoverian bred Statesman (by Sandro Hit x Brentano II) became the winners of the 6-year old Consolation Finals at the 2013 World Championships for young dressage horses in Verden, Germany, on Saturday morning 10 August 2013. The pair scored a 7.94 total mark to win the class.
None of the combinations in the small finals were able to score an overall mark above 8.0, but Domingo and Statesman came closest. The tall, long legged gelding, bred by Bernd Eylers and owned by Jordi, is a gorgeous horse with a very impression front. The judges awarded the dark bay gelding an 8.4 for trot, 7.2 for walk, 8.1 for canter, 7.8 for submission and 8.2 for general impression.
German Heiner Schiergen finished a close second aboard Heinz Bellen's Oldenburg gelding Discovery (by Dimaggio x Classiker). The handsome chestnut gelding is a very expressive mover with much flexion in the joints, but he is still quite unsteady in the contact. Today he scored 7.8 for trot, 8.0 for walk, 7.9 for canter, 7.8 for submission and 8.0 for general impression.
Finally the top three, of which the riders are allowed to move on to the big Finals on Sunday, was completed by Australian Jayden Brown on his long framed, athletic bay Hanoverian San Andreas (by Sandro Hit x Walt Disney I). Owned by Beau Dowsett, San Andreas has a very cadenced trot, a good ground coverng walk and an active canter. He earned 8.2 for trot, 8.0 for walk, 7.8 for canter, 7.0 for submission and 7.5 for general impression to finish third with 7.70.
