Dutch junior rider Rachell Fokker has secured the ride on the 15-year Dutch warmblood licensed stallion Rhodium (by Ferro x Ramiro). The Fokker family was able to arrange "a nice deal" so that the horse can stay with them in the future.
"I'm super happy to be competing Rhodium and am really looking forward to beginning my campaign with him," Rachell Fokker told Eurodressage. "We have a lot of contact with the previous owners, Joop van Uytert, Leo and Matthijs Brouwer and Jan de Jonge, and this is how the idea arose. They wanted to give me a super chance to ride this stallion."
Rhodium started his career under Hans Peter Minderhoud. The pair finished 12th in the 5-year old finals at the 2003 World Young Horse Championships in Verden. In 2004 the pair was 6th in the Finals at the World Young Horse Championships. The duo continued to win the Z-level division of the 2004-2005 KWPN Stallion Competition.
For three years Rhodium disappeared from the scene to return in 2008 under Dutch young rider Diederik van Silfhout. The pair competed at the 2008 Dutch Young Riders Championships, Zwolle International Stallion Show, the CDI De Steeg as well as at the international youth riders competitions in Weert and Roosendaal. After that Rhodium again vanished from the international circuit. Since March 2012 he has been in training with Christa Larmoyeur.
"He is super impressive and beautiful under saddle and gives a really good feeling," Fokker explained about her new ride. "He certainly has enough quality for junior/young riders, but that's a given."
Fokker and Rhodium are currently preparing for the junior riders classes and will be competing as soon as possible. "My goal is first riding a few years at junior level and then young riders," Fokker stated.
Rhodium's most famous offspring is the 2012 World Young Horse Championship bronze medalist Capri Sonne
