The success formula to select the right horse "From foal to Grand Prix" is the title of an interesting clinic during the 2013 Global Dressage Forum at Bartels' Academy in Hooge Mierde, The Netherlands, on 28-29 October 2013. Keynote speaker on this topic is Dutch team trainer Wim Ernes, who is also a KWPN Stallion Licensing Committee member.
Dutch national coach and international judge Wim Ernes has a ‘second life’ as a member of the very influential stallion selection committee of the Royal Dutch Warmblood Society KWPN. This extraordinary combination of jobs will be under the spotlight during next week's Global Dressage Forum. International rider and trainer Richard Davison will interview Wim Ernes on his skills to select the right breeding horses, suited for international top sport. Is international success a matter of selecting the right horse or is training the most important factor? And which training aspects are most important?
Wim will bring some world-famous ‘young horse experts’, who have produced many licensed stallions and world class dressage horses. They will demonstrate their skills in practice. Nico Witte is the man behind one of the most successful breeding stallions in the world: Jazz. He comes to the Forum with several foals and young horses. Joop van Uytert, who owned horses trained by Edward Gal and Anky van Grunsven like Gribaldi and Painted Black, will bring three to seven year old talented horses. Tim Coomans, who reared and trained Steffen Peters’s Ravel, will also be involved with several of his young horses. The main question will be: "What is a successful formula to select the right young horse and train it for international top sport"?
This year the program contains many interesting subjects. One of the hightlights will be Isabell Werth, who will have two sessions with several horses. Accompanying her will be Mrs. Winter-Schulze, her rider Beatrice Buchwald and Spanish piaff and passage trainer Jose Antonio Garcia Mena. Jan Brink and Kyra Kyrklund bring a group of Swedisch riders an explain about ‘basic training’ and ‘helping talented riders to helf themselves’. Also an update of recent developments on the program, Olympic judges Stephen Clarke and Katrina Wüst will explain and demonstrate the new judging system for the freestyle to music.
