The 18-year old Hanoverian licensed stallion Londonderry has been named Hanoverian Stallion of the Year 2013 and was honoured at the 2013 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden, Germany, on Saturday 25 October 2013.

Londonderry is born on 16 April 1995 at Klaus Hermann Ehlen's yard in Nieder Ochtenhausen, Germany. He is sired by Lauries Crusador xx, who passed away only four days before Londonderry's celebration in Verden. Dam Windsor Queen (by Warkant x Eiger) was discovered by Ehlen at the 1990 Verden Elite Foal Auction.

Londonderry's rise to stardom began at the 1997 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing where he became champion. The Landgestut Celle acquired the chestnut and still owns him to date standing at stud in Ankum. He did his Stallion Performance Test and placed fifth with a dressage index of 134.56 points.

Londonderry has over 2000 registered offspring of which 527 mares are entered in the Hanoverian mare book and 185 are state premium. The chestnut sired 33 Hanoverian licensed sons, including licensing champion Liberty Gold. Londonderry's licensed offspring Lemony's Nicket achieved the record auction price of 900,000 euro and was one of already 195 offspring sold at auction. Londontime sold for 510,000 euro.

Londonderry also had quite an illustrious career as a young dressage horse. He won the 1999 Bundeschampionate for 4-year old stallions under Peter Achilles. Two years later he became reserve champion under Wolfhard Witte at the 2001 Bundeschampionate. He was trained up to Prix St Georges level.

Londonderry's most famous offspring include Bundeschampion Lemony's Nicket, 2004 reserve Bundeschampion Liaison, 2005 Bundeschampion La Perla and the licensed Locksley II. Londonderry has only one offspring that has compted at international Grand Prix level so far, Nicole Glaser-Kappeler's Linas.
