The 2013 Global Dressage Forum was the last edition being held in Hooge Mierde, The Netherlands. Today it was announced that the GDF will move to Blue Hors Stud in Randbol, Denmark, in 2014.
The Global Dressage Forum was founded by Joep Bartels and held at Bartels' Academy in Hooge Mierde, The Netherlands, since its inception in 2001. The forum annually provides the leading public platform in the world of international dressage, where training techniques are scrutinised and examined in both practical and theoretical sessions as well as political proposals with an impact on dressage sport are discussed.
The forum was actually based on an earlier initiative by the late Herman Duckeck, chairman of the International Dressage Trainers Club. He wanted to organise a bi-annual meeting for trainers to study the technique and knowledge of training, but instead Academy Bartels created a new concept for all stakeholders in dressage, not just for trainers.
In 2012 the rights concerning the title of the Global Dressage Forum were transferred to a "Global Dressage Foundation", which now annually organise the Global Dressage Forum. It also controls the program through a program committee, chair by the Danish HRH Princess Benedikte.
For 2014 the Global Dressage Forum will move to Denmark and is scheduled to take place 20 - 21 October 2014. In 2015 the forum will return to The Netherlands.
