Maree Tomkinson and Diamantina won the Grand Prix class at the 2013 Pacific League World Cup Final CDI-W in Melbourne, Australia on Friday 29 November 2013. Aboard her beautiful bay mare Diamantina (by Diamond Hit) Tomkinson scored a winning 69.894%. The duo showed excellent form and will be a strong contender for Saturday’s Grand Prix Freestyle.
The lead changed on five occasions throughout the afternoon and it was London 2012 Olympic combination Mary Hanna and Sancette which started the trend with a score of 66.021%. They were outdone by the next combination into the arena, Heath Ryan and Regardez Moi which scored 66.915%.
Caroline Wagner and Tango V produced a strong score of 67.298 to hold the lead momentarily but they were relegated to third overall once the local combination of Tomkinson and Diamantina took to the arena, followed by Rozzie Ryan and GV Bullwinkle which finished in second after scoring 68.383%.
For Australia's top dressage combinations Saturday's Grand Prix freestyle presents an opportunity to gain a start at the 2013/2014 FEI World Cup Final for dressage in Lyon, France with the winner of this event to gain an invitation to contest this annual and prestigious dressage competition.
