Danish young dressage riders Cathrine Dufour and Nanna Skodborg Merrald have been submitted to the national Team Denmark Talent program, which only accepts Danish athletes from various discplines with exceptional achievements and talent.
The double European Young Riders Champion Cathrine Dufour and up and coming Grand Prix rider Nanna Skodborg Merrald (who is still a U25 rider but already competing in the senior division) are Denmark's two biggest dressage talents for the future.
Dufour has already been to the first meetings with Team Denmark. She commented, "for me it is a huge pat on the back and I'm obviously very happy and proud to be selected on the Team Denmark Talent Group. I have already had the first meeting with Team Danmark experts, and I am looking forward to getting started with the projects planned for 2014."
Team Denmark will help Dufour to combine her education with starting up her own equestrian business. "It is really a great help for me so that I can pursue sport at a high level."
Team Denmark assists its Talent Program members in preparing master plans, which focus on sport, education and personal development. "The aim of the program is to increase knowledge and experience across all sports and to strengthen talent so that Denmark in the coming years can win medals at international championships," the Danish Equestrian Federation explained.
In January 30 Team Denmark Talents will meet for the first time at a two-day seminar.
