Australia will be fielding a team at the upcoming Nations' Cup competition in Wellington, FL (USA) on 18 - 21 February 2014. At the moment 35 riders are provisionally scheduled to compete on 9 teams in this Nations' Cup, which one of only two hosted on the North American continent this year.
The Australian team will be spearheaded by elite squad member Kelly Layne on her Dutch warmblood Udon P. They will be bringing form to the team having just won the Wellington CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle.
Layne will form a team with Wellington based Grand Prix rider Ilse Schwarz on Cadenza and small tour riders Nicholas Fyffe on Tolstoy and Karin Davis on Morris.
The Wellington Nations' Cup is not restricted to Grand Prix level riders but teams constitute two Grand Prix riders and two Intermediaire I level riders. Teams from Spain, Germany, The Netherlands, Colombia and individuals from Puerto Rico are scheduled to compete.
Host nation the United States still has not announced its team for the CDIO Wellington. Canada will be sending two teams to the Wellington Nations Cup.
