Dutch team trainer Wim Ernes has announced the Dutch team that will compete at the Nations Cup in Vidauban, France, on 28 February - 2 March 2014. The CDIO Vidauban is the second of six Nations' Cup competition so far scheduled for 2014. The FEI Nations' Cup series kicks off with the CDIO Wellington in Florida next week.
Wim Ernes has opted to send B-team riders to Vidauban for them to gain show experience and exposure at top level. "Of course our focus this year is on the World Equestrian Games, but last year it became clear that the competitions in this series are good for combinations with potential. It offers them much opportunity to progress," Ernes commented.
The Dutch team for the CDIO Vidauban includes:
- Diederik van Silfhout - Arlando (by Paddox x Mytens xx) or Vorst (by Hors la Loi II x Lancelot)
- Madeleine Witte-Vrees - Vitana V (by Donnerhall x Hemmingway)
- Tommie Visser - Vingino (by Polansky x Variant)
- Laurens van Lieren - Ulysses la Haye (by Gribaldi x Ulft)
"It's important to make sure that besides our top combinations there are combinations which will soon join the top," Ernes explained. "In my opinion these four are able to achieve that in the near future."
The Interntional Equestrian Federation (FEI) currently lists six Nations' Cup show on the calendar for 2014. The CDI-W Devon in September was supposed to be a Nations' Cup event as well, but Trond Asmyr confirmed to Eurodressage that Devon declined from hosting the CDIO this year.
