Rozzie Ryan and GV Bullwinkle have secured selection to the Australian WEG long list by achieving the best average score from four appointed selection events, which took place in 2013 and 2014 in Australia.
Ryan averaged a score of 68.41% and topped the ranking. Maree Tomkinson and Diamantina (by Diamond Hit) were second with 67.70, while Caroline Wagner and Tango (by Jazz) finished third with 67.29.
As per the Australian 2014 World Equestrian Games selection policy for dressage, one Australian based combination will gain automatic selection to the ‘WEG long list’. This list will consist of eight combinations from which Australia’s dressage team for WEG will be chosen.
In order to be eligible for this position, combinations had to compete in the Grand Prix class at three of four events: 2013 Australian Dressage Championships CDI-W, 2013 Equestrian Grand Final CDI-W in Sydney, 2013 Victorian Dressage Festival CDI-W, and the 2014 Boneo Park CDI-
Automatic selection to the 'WEG long list' was granted to the combination which has achieved the best average score taken from their three strongest results at the above events. Rozzie Ryan obtained the highest average score of the eligible combinations.
By finishing in first place on the leader board, Ryan has earned the right to start in the two round head to head dressage nomination series, to be held in Europe between the eight members of the ‘WEG Long List’. The seven remaining places on the WEG long will be determined in the coming months.
Ryan has been given time to consider her options and will soon confirm if she will accept the position.
