Betsy Juliano and George Williams have announced that at the close of the winter season, Williams will leave her Havensafe Farm, ending their professional relationship.
Williams began his formal employment with Havensafe Farm in May of 2009 when Juliano had four dressage horses for Williams to train for her to compete. Since then, the Havensafe number of dressage horses has doubled. While Williams was employed by Havensafe full time, his agreement with the farm allowed him to work independently with other clients and horses. The clientele and demand for clinics from Williams have continued to increase.
For the immediate future, Williams plans to devote himself to Williams Dressage LLC, which he formed in 2009 with his wife, Roberta.
"This is a difficult transition for me as I am very dedicated to the people and horses at Havensafe," Williams said. "When you train horses and people for this length of time, you become very attached. It has been a pleasure to train Cleopatra, Don Bailey, Riccidoff and Horizon. I am proud to say that we met Betsy's goals of earning her USDF Bronze and Silver Medals and Silver Freestyle Bar."
Juliano echoed Williams' comments: "George and I have had a terrific time. We've worked hard, traveled many miles and have had much success and lots of laughs. The positive changes he has produced in my horses' performance and my own riding have been astounding. I have decided, however, that with my current situation, I want to have a trainer who will devote his or her full time to me and my horses at my farms in Middlefield, Ohio, and in Wellington."
Williams, who has balanced his volunteer efforts with USEF and as the President of USDF with his full time training endeavors, wants to focus on his competition goals and continue to expand the Williams Dressage business. Currently he will remain in Wellington while entertaining future summer relocation possibilities.
Juliano will focus on building upon the solid foundation she and Williams built with an eye to advancing the training and competition goals of Havensafe Farm.
