Michael Thieme has sustained a severe injury in an accident with a horse and has been hospitalized with a head trauma. He received a kick to the head. He will remain there for a while.
Thieme has been the dressage trainer and chair of the regional equestrian center in Redefin since 2010. He started working at the State stud in Redefin in 1990.
Thieme's dressage career has mainly involved work on national level. His international highlight was becoming reserve champion with D'Olympic at the 2000 World Young Horse Championships in Arnheim.
Thieme also discovered international Grand Prix horse Wenckstern (by Weltmeyer x Western Star) and 1991 World Cup Finalist Drunk It, and he rode licensing champion and elite stallion Juventus (by Juon II x Sonnstrahl).
