After working only one month and a half at the State Stud in Marbach, Germany, as head dressage trainer, German Olympian Anabel Balkenhol has relocated back home citing health reasons for her early departure.
Balkenhol started working in Marbach on 1 February 2014 and took seven horses, a groom and a student with her to the South of Germany. She managed her own stable block at the centre and besides riding her allocated horses she also trained the other riders in Marbach.
Unfortunately her stomach problems, which already plagued Anabel in 2010, returned and made her decide to move back home mid March.
"I have decided to go back to Rosendahl," Balkenhol told ST. Georg. "Here I have my doctor, who already treated me successfully and who knows my case."
Balkenhol did bring the Marbach owned stallion Diamond Star, which she will compete next weekend at the CDI Hagen, to her home.
"Even if I won't return to Marbach, I will still try to go there regularly for training," Anabel added. "But first I will have to regain full health."
Two weeks ago, Balkenhol competed her small tour horse Rosalie B and her Grand Prix horse Rubins Royal at the 2014 CDI Nieuw en St. Joosland, but she had to scratch on the second day of competition because her stomach pains returned.
