The United States Equestrian Federation has named three horse-and-rider combinations to the U.S. Dressage Team for the 2014 Rotterdam CDIO5* taking place during the CHIO Rotterdam in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, June 18-22. Additionally, the U.S. will be represented by one individual in the CDI-U25 competition.
The following combinations have been named to the U.S. Dressage Team for the Rotterdam CDIO5* (listed in Alphabetical Order):
Susie Dutta (Wellington, Fla.) will ride Tim Dutta Inc.’s Currency DC, a 2000 Oldenburg gelding.
Dutta is a frequent competitor on the European circuit with several top placings. In 2013, she and Currency DC helped Team U.S.A. II claim second-place honors in the Wellington Nations Cup CDIO3* presented by Stillpoint Farm. The pair kicked off 2014 with a win in the Grand Prix Freestyle during week seven of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (AGDF).
Brian Hafner (Penngrove, Calif.) will ride his and Rebecca Hafner’s Lombardo LHF, a 1999 Hanoverian gelding.
Hafner and his Young Rider horse, Lombardo LHF, have risen through the ranks to become a successful pair at the Grand Prix Level. The pair was sixth in last year’s The Dutta Corp/USEF Grand Prix Dressage National Championship and was awarded a training grant after their participation in the 2013 USEF Developing Dressage Program. This spring, the pair won the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special at the Rancho Murieta CDI3* at the Golden State Dressage Festival.
Devon Kane (Wellington, Calif.) will ride Diamante Farms’ Destiny, a 2003 Danish Warmblood gelding.
Kane rose through the Junior and Young Rider ranks to find much success at the Grand Prix Level. At the 2013 Wellington CDI5*, Kane and Destiny took top honors in the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I. The pair was second in the Grand Prix during week one of the AGDF and the Gold Coast Opener.
Up-and-coming talents Hafner and Kane will ride alongside veteran competitor Dutta in Rotterdam, making up a capable team to represent the U.S. in the CDIO5*.
Upon confirmation from the Organizing Committee, the following rider will compete as an individual in the CDI-U25:
Mackinzie Pooley (Coto de Caza, Calif.) will ride Leslie Pooley’s Partous, a 1997 KWPN gelding.
A junior at the University of San Diego, Pooley has been on numerous Region 7 NAJYRC teams, winning several Team and Individual medals before moving up to the U-25 Grand Prix Level. With Partous, she won the CDI-U25 Grand Prix classes at the Mid-Winter Dressage Fair and Capistrano Dressage International earlier this year and was awarded a training grant for their participation in the 2014 USEF Developing Dressage Program.
