FEI Dressage News

The FEI Dressage Committee, including Thomas Baur, Maribel Alonso, David Hunt, Hans Christian Matthiesen, Kyra Kyrklund, chair Frank Kemperman, and FEI Dressage director Trond Asmyr, held a conference call on 18 June 2014. Here are the minutes of the meeting.

Welcome and Approval of Minutes from last Meeting

The Chair opened the meeting and the minutes from the last meeting 13-14 May 2014 were approved, with the following clarifications:

  • Point 3, 10 points were to be awarded also for CDIO4*s.
  • Point 5, Art 430.7.6, addition of sentence “No further changes to be made for 2015”.
  • Point 17, WEG test event, the preparations for the test event and for the WEG had gone well.

The DD updated the DC on the points discussed in May. The Bureau had approved keeping the same system as currently used for the North American World Cup League rules for 2014/2015 still.

Regarding the degree of difficulty project, negotiations were ongoing in a positive way.

The role of the JSP – The JSP would not be allowed to make the corrections related to the 6% difference yet at the WEG as this was a rule change and needed GA approval, hence this would be decided in December 2014 for 1.1.2015.

E-learning and course material was to be discussed with Harald Müller.

1.    The Future of Dressage

There had been further meetings and discussion on this subject, well received by all concerned.

The DC was to think about what changes could be possible in the long and in the short term.

Holding an open round table discussion with outside media people invited was discussed.

2.    Rule Changes for 2015

The discussion of the Rule Changes for 2015 was postponed for the next meeting. The DC was to come with their input to HQ by 1st July so that this could be incorporated into the rules document.

Decision: To be discussed at 8th July meeting. DC to send any input to HQ by 1st July.

3.    Asian Dressage Championships

Decision: The DC was in principle positive to an Asian Dressage Championship, but did not support it in the format it had been proposed in.
