The CEO Selection Committee, comprised of three members of the Equine Canada Board and three members of the 2018 WEG Bid Committee, is currently recruiting for a CEO for the 2018 World Equestrian Games (WEG).
For the first time in the history of the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), the prestigious WEG will held in Canada - only the second time outside of Europe since the first Games were held in Stockholm, SWE, in 1990. Beautiful Bromont, QC was unanimously selected as the host city on June 9, 2014, and now the search is on for a uniquely qualified individual to become chief architect, advocate and operational executive of this quadrennial celebration of international equestrian sport.
The successful candidate will be accountable to a Board of Directors, which will be formed for the 2018 Games, for providing overall leadership and direction to the 2018 WEG. The CEO will support the Board and its mandate and will be accountable for ensuring that the Games operate within the policy and strategy framework established by the Board. The CEO will provide advice and counsel to the Board, in all matters impacting the 2018 WEG and will provide effective operational leadership to the management, staff and volunteers of the organization.
"We are searching for an exceptional candidate to lead, manage and organize this world-class event," said Michael Gallagher, who has been a member of the bid committee since the initial stages and is currently on the CEO Selection Committee. "Our goal is to have the 2018 WEG be the best World Equestrian Games ever held."
