Marina Mattson's Under 25 Grand Prix horse Cassio, one of the most exciting young Grand Prix horses in Europe, has been sold by his owner Patrik Hannell to Danish Grand Prix rider Agnete Kirk Thinggaard.
Bred by Helmut Wingenroth, the 9-year old grey Oldenburg bred Cassio is by Conteur out of Jacoma (by Calato x Landgraf I). The 182 cm tall gelding first came into the spotlight as a young horse ridden by Danish Rikke Dupont from 2009 till 2012. He moved to Jan Brink's barn in Sweden two and half years ago.
Mattsson, who is an assistant trainer at Hannell Dressage, started him at international junior riders level later on in 2012 and qualified the horse for the Swedish team for the 2013 European Young Riders Championships in Compiegne, France. In 2014 they made a successful transition to Grand Prix level and competed in the Under 25 division with a victory at the 2014 CDI Kapellen.
Agnete Kirk Thinggaard is the daughter of Lego mogul Kjell Kirk Kristiansen, who also owns Blue Hors Stud. Last year Thinggaard acquired Grand Prix schoolmaster and Finnish team horse JoJo AZ and this year she was long-listed for the Danish WEG Team.
