The 4-year old Pippin's Pride, the 5-year old Den Ostrik's Marah, and the 6-year old Morningsky became the winners of the 2014 Dutch Young Pony Championships held at Gert van den Hoorn's equestrian centre in Kootwijk, The Netherlands, 22 - 24 August 2014. After qualifying for the finals through selection shows in The Netherlands, five ponies made it to the big finals per age division after topping a morning qualification test at the Nationals.
The five highest scoring ponies of the first round were test ridden by two riders in the Finals. Three Dutch young riders were appointed as guest judge riders: European YR Champion Anne Meulendijks, former YR team member Michelle van Lanen and current YR team member Jeanine Nieuwenhuis.
The 4-year old division was won by Kimberley Pap on the Welsh pony stallion Pippin's Pride (by Wengelo's Ricardo). They scored 83.9 in the first round and guest judge riders Van Lanen en Meulendijks both scored the pony 10 for rideabiity and potential. The reserve champion was Sterre van Uiterwijk on Welsh pony Topsvoorter Monopoly (by Wengelo's Ricardo). He scored 80.2 points and got 95 and 85 from the test riders.
In the 5-year old division NIkki van Alebeek rode a clear winner to victory: Den Ostrik's Marah (by Leun Veld's Lord). This mare scored 81.5 in the first round and got 90 and 85 from test riders Van Lanen and Nieuwenhuis to total a winning 250,5. Anouk Strikkers and Black Jack (by Hagelkruis Valentijn) were the reserve champions after scoring 80.3, 80 and 90 points (total 245,6).
Paulette Kral and last year's 5-year old champion mare Morningsky (by Kielshoop Honeyhill) also reigned supreme in the 6-year old class with a clear point advantage to the second placed pair. Kral earned 86.8 points in the morning round and guest judge riders Meulendijks and Nieuwenhuis scored the pony 95 and 90 points. Morningsky totalled 266.1 points and edged out Marten Luiten on Goldwin's Hoeve's Moviestar (by Hagelkruis Valentijn), who got 84.9, 85 and 90 points (total 257,3).
