At the 2014 Global Dressage Forum, Florida based Danish WEG team rider Lars Petersen disclosed that he has agreed on a one year co-operation with Blue Hors Stud for the intensive training of its riders.
Lars Petersen was a former Blue Hors stud rider before he moved to the U.S.A. twelve years ago. Currently based in Wellington, Florida, with his wife Melissa Taylor, Lars represented Denmark again for the first time on a team at an intercontinental championship since 2001. He represented Denmark at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen aboard Marcia Pepper's Danish mare Mariett.
In prepration for WEG, Petersen and Mariett were based at Blue Hors in Denmark where the rider reconnected with the training team at the stud. Blue Hors has always kept close ties with Petersen, for instance it sent over GP horse Gredstedgards Casmir a couple of years ago to get the horse back in shape.
Blue Hors has now agreed on bringing over Lars Petersen ten times in twelve months for 4-day training sessions with their riders. He will especially focus on training the two top riders, Allan Gron and Daniel Bachmann, as well as other riders. The co-operation starts in December 2014.
Lars Petersen has announced that he is considering changing nationality, taking up American citizenship as he is permanently based in the USA.
"I have has been a part of Blue Hors from the beginning and it feels like a second home," Petersen told Eurodressage. "I will also get American citizenship but not until Denmark accepts dual citizenship. I will continue ride for Denmark while I'm still competing Mariett."
