Three dressage personalities -- young rider Emelie Aldenfalk and horses Strolchi and Darcia - were honoured at the 2014 Swedish Riders Gala held on Wednesday 26 November 2014.
This year's gala dressage only had a supporting role with most attention going to Sweden's show jumping and eventing riders.
Swedish junior rider team member Emelie Aldenfalk, who recently made a successful transition to young riders level, was named "tomorrow's star" in dressage.
The 8-year old Strolchi (by Sancisco x Davignon II) was named "Tomorrow's Horse" in dressage. He is owned by Jessica Andersson and ridden by Marin Olofsson Naas.
"He's magical. He has given me so much," said Olofsson Naas. "Besides all the success, he's a friend for life."
The breeders of Swedish WEG team horse Darcia VH (by Danone), Torsten and Birgitta Hansson, were named "Breeders of the Year".
"I'm so proud. I'm so touched. I am so grateful," said Hansson at the gala.
The Comet of the Year award for the most successful upcoming Swedish young rider once again went to show jumping rider. In the nine years that the award has existed, only once has it gone to a dressage rider, in 2008 to Sara Henrietta Bergström Källström, who is no longer competing internationally.
