Katrin Burger has resigned from her position as deputy breeding director of the German Oldenburg society after nine years on the post. She has received a new job offer which she couldn't refuse.
Burger will leave her position at the Oldenburg headquarters in Vechta, Germany, at the beginning of May. Katrin and her husband Joachim Neubert will relocate back to the south of Germany where she will become the head trainer at a small, private yard for the Merkt family.
"I have been offered a job that fits me perfectly. You only live once," Burger commented. "If I wanted to do something differently in my life one more time, it would have to be now. I had a lot of fun working for the Oldenburg society the past nine years with full commitment and I will stay connected with the society and the breeders."
Katrin is the carrier of the gold riding badge and her riding career highlight dates back to 2004 when she and the black stallion French Kiss won the 2004 World Championships for Young Dressage horses in the 6-year old division. Before becoming deputy director in Vechta, Burger was the stud managing director at Gestut Schlossacker in south Germany.
Burger has close ties with the Merkt family as she been competing their 6-year old Oldenburg gelding Danzarino (by Diamond Hit x Laurentio). At the 2014 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf she placed 26th with him, after winning the Rastede and Ludwigsburg Bundeschampionate qualifiers.
