Germany's biggest horse owner and dealer Paul Schockemöhle has celebrated his 70th birthday on 22 March 2015. The enterpreneur is not yet ready for retirement though!
Schockemöhle is the owner of more than 4000 horses. He manages a huge stallion station in his home town Mühlen and has a massive brood farm, Gestut Lewitz, in East Germany. He is a highly versatile man, being a breeder, stallion owner, horse dealer, event organizer and he has built up an imperium first with a chicken egg business and than a transport company of over 400 lorries.
For dressage Paul Schockemöhle has made his name with a large collection of highly popular dressage breeding stallions, with Sandro Hit being his foundaton stallion. In 2010 he caused a sensation by buying World Champion and record holder Totilas for a rumoured amount of more than 10 million euro.
Schockemöhle's event organizing business stages the CSI-W Leipzig, Munich Indoors and the Hamburg Derby. Partnering with Ullrich Kasselmann, he hosts the annual prestigious PSI Auction.
Paul was a successful show jumping rider thirty years ago. He was five time German champion and won Olympic team gold at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
