Adelinde Cornelissen will not be competing her 18-year old Dutch warmblood gelding Parzival in the 3* Kur to Music class at the 2015 CDIO Rotterdam after finishing third in the Grand Prix with 74.420%.
Cornelissen made her show come back on Parzival at Rotterdam after a six month break from competition. The pair last competed at the CDI Mechelen in December 2014, where they were beaten for the first time by team mate Danielle Heijkoop. Rotterdam was their official return to the ring and they earned 74.420%, which was their lowest Grand Prix score since July 2008.
Cornelissen decided to withdrawn Parzival (by Jazz x Ulft) from the freestyle.
"He certainly is super fit and very fresh, maybe even a bit too fresh," Cornelissen explained her decision. "This afternoon he was suprised by so many people who sat so closely to the ring and got quite tense. This caused a few unusual mistakes. It won't be good for our future performances to go back into that ring under the same circumstances. It will more likely damage his confidence, which we have building so carefully the last few years. It's not fair towards Parzival, who always does his best."
