Isabell Werth will not be competing her number one Grand Prix horse Bella Rose at the 2015 CDIO Hagen, the final German observation and team selection trial for the 2015 European Dressage Championships. The mare is not yet ready for 4* competition.
Isabell Werth had planned on competing Don Johnson in the CDIO-tour in Hagen, on 9 - 12 July 2015 and re-introduce Bella Rose to competition in the 4* tour in Hagen. The mare has not been out since the 2014 CDI-W Stuttgart last November and sustained a knee injury.
Last week, Werth had Bella Rose with her for training at the 2015 CDI Fritzens, but after discussion with the German dressage selection committee it was decided not to compete her in Hagen after all.
The German equestrian federation communicated that "after her knee infection, she is still in a training phase."
Dr. Dennis Peiler, the managing director of the German Olympic Equestrian Committee (DOKR) commented that, "the dressage selection committee will decide what the possible consequences are for the European championships in Aachen."
Bella Rose (by Belissimo M x Cacir AA) will be replaced in Hagen by Charlott-Maria Schürmannand Burlington (by Breitling x Rohdiamant).
