The Belgian Equestrian Federation (KBRSF) isued a special statement on Wednesday morning 12 August 2015 in response to Claudia Fassaert's suspicion that her horse has been poisoned at the Belgian Dressage Championships.
"The KBRSF is surprised by the report which appeared yesterday in the media concerning the poisoning of Donnerfee, the Grand Prix horse of Claudia Fassaert. Neither the federation nor any team official was notified personally by Claudia till this day."
"The Technical staff wishes to express that the non-selection for the European Championship is in no way connected to the lesser results at the Belgian Chamoionships, but it is based on an evaluation of the entire season, including the multiple day training camp in Erp four days after the Belgian Championships, where the mare appeared top fit. The KBRSF wishes to pay full attention to the four combinations who are participating int he European Championships. Today Jorinde and Fanny are riding their Grand Prix and tomorrow it's up to Laurence and Jeroen. With a top 6 placing int he team ranking a ticket for the Rio Olympics can be earned."
