It was a clean sweep for Aubenhausen based Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on her 11-year old Dutch warmblood mare Zaire (by Son de Niro x Jazz) at the 2015 CDI Donaueschingen. The German team bronze medalist at the 2015 European Championships, has won her fourth Grand Prix class in a row on her rising star Zaire. After topping the board twice at the CDI Lamprechtshausen in Austria, von Bredow repeated the feat in Donaueschingen.
A small field of sixteen riders gathered to contest the big tour classes in Donaueschingen, but the level of competition was not incredibly high. Only four riders were able to score above 70% in the Grand Prix, top rider Isabell Werth had to retire Laurenti in the test and nine riders could not score higher than 65% including several major A-team riders.
Von Bredow-Werndl, however, proved consistency aboard her 11-year old bay mare. She won the Grand Prix with 73.880%, edging out German GP new comer Beatrice Buchwald on Weihegold (72.780%). In the Grand Prix Special Von Bredow won with 73.706% and referring Danish Daniel Bachmann Andersen on Blue Horse stud's stallion Hotline to a second place with 73.353%
"Despite the opinion of others I have always believed in this horse," von Bredow commented about Zaire. "Here she was relaxed, loose and attentive. We still need to gymnasticize more and she needs to gain strength, but the mare has no weaknesses."
