Brett Parbery took a strong start at the 2015 Australian Dressage Championships in Sydney, Australia, on a rained out second day of competition Thursday 22 October 2015, taking the Prix St Georges Championship with Longvue Florencio. Heath Ryan riding Utopian Cardinal won the Intermediaire II championship.
In a field of 35 competitors contesting the Prix St Georges, Parbery and Glenn Fryer's Longvue Florencio (by Florestan x World Magic) scored 70.290% and edged out second place combination Rodney Martin and SPH Sonata Hit (by Sandro Hit x Clintino) who received a score of 68.947%. The fight for the minor placings was close with Lisa Martin and First Famous (by Fidertanz x Rubiloh) coming in third with a score of 68.815%.
Later in the day Parbery partnered with PPH Zeppelin to win the Intermediaire A, the first of two classes that will decide the Medium Tour Championship.
"He's (Florencio) not that exposed to big environments so the rain on the roof was a little distracting for him, but overall he was really good. We struck a really bad time of the day because it rained really heavily and we were saturated. He's definitely a horse for the future," said Parbery.
Heath Ryan riding Utopian Cardinal was also a winner on day two, taking out the Intermediate II Championship. The pair was convincing winners of the class receiving a score of 67.921%.
The Grand Prix and Kur to Music at the Nationals in Sydney are CDI-W allocated classes and will take place on the weekend.
