American Grand Prix rider Eliane Cordia-van Reesema is bringing Tristan Tucker's eye-opening natural horsemanship training techniques -- the TRT Method -- to her brand new farm Jewel Court Stud U.S.A. in Wellington, Florida. On 8 February 2016 Cordia-Van Reesema will be hosting a special symposium where Tucker will showcase his TRT Method.
In spring and summer the Connecticut based Eliane trains with her long-time coach Ashley Holzer in New York City. The ambitious dressage rider has now expanded her business endeavours by acquiring her own equestrian centre "Jewel Court Stud USA" as winter base in Wellington, Florida. The pristine property is conveniently located at Southfields Association, just a stone's throw away from the Global Dressage Festival show grounds. Eliane has the farm as her own training base, but also rents out stalls to high performance riders who are in Florida for the season.
"It's such an exciting time here at the new stable. The barn is totally full with Karin Persons, Marie Petterson and Jacquie Brooks here. It's very busy," said the entrepreneurial rider.
The 39-year old Cordia-van Reesema began working with Tristan Tucker over the summer when she needed extra guidance for managing her tall, 180 cm standing small tour horse, the 11-year old Dutch bred Jewel's Amythist (by Sandro Hit x Loutano). The dark bay home bred KWPN gelding is quite the powerhouse when he shies.
"We did lots of in-hand work and ground work with Amethyst," Eliane explained. "The whole concept was to change his thinking from 'oh ow' to forward."
Working with Tucker has been a mind-altering experience and a close friendship has developed from it. Eliane has given Tristan the ride on her 7-year old Oldenburg bred Jewel's Sir Weihbach (by Sir Donnerhall x Don Schufro), which he so far has competed in the 6-year old young horse classes. The new pair showed at the 2016 CDI Perl in August and were second twice at the 2016 CDI Lier in November.
For the 2016 Florida show season Eliane is focusing on consolidating and improving her scores with top Grand Prix horse Jewel's Adelante, a 16-year old Swedish warmblood by Don Schufro x Phaeton. At the CDI-W Saugerties last September the pair finished fourth in the Grand Prix Special and they are now ready to shine at the 2016 Global Dressage Festival. Jewel's Amethyst will be shown at small tour level, picking up from their last performance at Saugerties, where they were seventh in the Intermediaire I.
"At the moment I also have several really nice young horses which I'm focusing on, but of course I'll be doing the Grand Prix with Adelante and put more show mileage on Amethyst," said Eliane.
Eliane is sharing Tristan's knowledge with the world by organizing a symposium at her yard. The Australian Tucker is an expert in working with hyper-sensitive and spooky horses. Tristan believes that riders need to focus more on the horse knowing how to cope better with the environments and pressures of being a sport horse. His TRT Method ground work exercises create patterns in the horse's body to relieve tension and teaches horses how to handle and respond to flight-inducing pressures at shows.
At the Jewel Court Stud USA symposium on 8 February 2016 Tucker will showcase his TRT Method and demonstrate how to build up on a horse's current training with long lining. Tristan has worked with dressage greats such as Beatriz Ferrer-Salat and has been a keynote speaker at the Global Dressage Forum and Paard & Lifestyle in The Netherlands, The Dressage Convention in the U.K., the Danish warmblood stallion licensing in Herning, and other major exhibitions all over the world.
The Tristan Tucker symposium at Jewel Court Stud U.S.A. is scheduled for Monday 8 February 2016 at 2 PM. Pres-sale tickets are $85
