An emergency evacuation took place today at the 2016 Hanoverian Winter Auction in Verden, Germany, on Saturday afternoon 22 January 2016. The crowds were scared by an alert and had to be evacuated from the Niedersachsen indoor arena.
Approximately a thousand people were attending the Hanoverian auction today when all of a sudden the people were asked to evacuate the building immediately.
It soon appeared that it was a false alarm but quite a few people panicked while rushing out of the building. The auction ceased for a period of time but resumed around 18h00.
People attending reported to Ridehesten it was a bomb alert that went off, others stated they had no clue why they were asked to leave the indoor school. The Hanoverian verband itself posted that it was a fire alert. The Verden fire brigade came to the premises to secure everything. The upheaval did not last longer than an hour.
