Dutch team trainer Wim Ernes was seen back in action at the 2016 CDI-W Amsterdam on 29 January 2016. Since he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour at the end of December, Ernes had to put his professional life on hold.
The 57-year old, however, made a public appearing at Jumping Amsterdam where he watched the riding of the A-team combinations.
The Dutch equestrian federation issued a press release in which it disclosed that Ernes began a round of chemotherapy today. His priorities as team trainer will therefore solely focus on the Olympic A-team squad. The Federation is also working on different scenarios in case Ernes can not fulfil his job.
"The Dutch equestrian federation wishes Wim much success and strength with the intensive treatment he's facing the next few weeks," said the press release.
