Two dressage bred stallions - Darwin and Del Piero - were approved for breeding in Austria following a positive verdict at the 2016 Austrian Warmblood Stallion Licensing in Stadl Paura, Austria on 13 February 2016.
Three stallions in total were licensed: the jumper Cordolensky, who was named champion, and the dressage colts Darwin (by Dancier x Lauries Crusador xx) and Del Piero (by Diamond Hit x Wolkentanz II).
Bred by Felde and Holsten in Germany, Darwin stood out with his beautiful conformation and good basic gaits. Del Piero, who is bred by Franz Hummer-Niedermayr in Austria, was presented under saddle by Heinz-Jorg Wachter at S-level.
Eighteen young 3-year old colts were also presented for the first time at the Austrian licensing and 16 were accepted for the Stallion Performance Testing, after which they can only receive the licensed status if they successfully complete the testing. Five of them stood out in the field, amongst them Elisabeth Max-Theurer's Garibaldi (by Grimaldi x San Romantiko), Alfred Leser's Broadmoar's Maurizio (by Millenium x Weltenau) and Broadmoar's Don Alfredo (by Destano x His Highness x Weltenau), Bartlgut's Furstenberg (by Franziskus x Coriograf B) and the jumper Contario.
