Finnish Grand Prix rider Terhi Stegars has accepted the FEI's invitation to complete the line-up for the 2016 World Cup Finals in Gothenburg, Sweden, after the winter calendar highlight event lost much of its shine with a massive amount of drop-outs the past two weeks. The 2016 World Cup Finals are scheduled to take place this week on 24 - 27 March 2016.
After the final Western European League world cup qualifier in Den Bosch, riders such as Isabell Werth, Edward Gal, Beatriz Ferrer-Salat, Diederik van Silfhout and Charlotte Dujardin announced that they are not going to Gothenburg for various reasons.
An invitation was extended to Belgian Jorinde Verwimp less than a week ago but she declined as well citing time constraints. Her horse Tiamo was on a break after the CDI Lier and not prepared in training for the Finals.
The Luxembourg based Finnish rider Terhi Stegars has now accepted to fill in the vacant slot with her licensed Trakehner stallion Axis. Stegars trains with Kyra Kyrklund and Richard White.
