German Grand Prix rider Dorothee Schneider and Austria's numer one Victoria Max-Theurer bagged the big tour victories at the easter weekend CDI competition in Stadl Paura, Austria, on 25 - 28 March 2016.
Dorothee Schneider and one of her top scoring Grand Prix horses, St. Emilion (by Sandro Hit x Ehrentanz), reigned supreme in the Special tour, scoring the victory in the Grand Prix with 73.220% and in the Special with 73.824%. The black gelding is owned by Dorothee's sponsor Christina Ullrich.
The top three in both tests were the same with Victoria Max-Theurer making her international Grand Prix debut on the Oldenburg mare Della Cavalleria (by Diamond Hit x Rubinstein), who finished second twice with 71.420% and 72.275%, while German Bernadette Brune and her new top ride Lights of Londonderry (by Londonderry) were third twice with 70.980% and 71.059%. Max-Theurer also made her return to the arena with the 18-year old Westfalian stallion Eichendorff (by Ehrentusch), which she hadn't shows since June 2015. The duo finished fourth in the Grand Prix with 69,460% but did not contest the Special.
In the Kur tour Max-Theurer brought along her 2015 European Championship mount Blind Date, a Hanoverian mare by Breitling x Donnerhall. They won the Grand Prix with 73.400% and the Kur to Music with 76.650%. The freestyle classes were preyed upon by local riders as Austrian Christian Schumach finished second on Picardo with 68,520% and third in the Kur with 71.450%. The 15-year old Picardo sustained an injury last year and it took him 11 months to make his come back. Their last show together was in May 2015. Austrian Belinda Weinbauer and the Ahorn family's 15-year old Hanoverian Don Walesko (by Donnerhall x Walt Disney) were third in the Grand Prix with 68,460% and second in the freestyle with 72.925%.
