2016 Horsefood Dressage Talent

The 4-year old Flora di Mariposa and the 5-year old Great Lady TC became the winners of the 2016 Horsefood Dressage Talent competition held in Berkel-Enschot, The Netherlands, on Sunday 3 April. This Dressage Talent competition is one of numerous dressage horse talent scouting show, which have been popping up all over The Netherlands in the past few years.

The Horsefood Dressage Talent competition was started in 2010 and the Finals consist of a first round in which the horses are presented by their own rider. The three highest scoring horses were test ridden this year by Danielle van Mierlo. The judging panel consisted of Johan Hamminga, Jeroen Witte and Emmelie Scholtens.

In the 4-year old division Robin van Lierop steered the German bred mare Flora di Mariposa (by Furstenball x Rubin Royal) to victory. She scored the highest mark (87 points) in the first round and got a 10 for rideability and potential from the test rider. Bred by Carsten Mittendorf, the Oldenburg mare was the 2015 Oldenburg reserve elite mare champion. She was initially owned by show jumper Rolf Moormann who sold her to the Dutch RS2 dressage center de Horst. Krista Kolijn and the Dutch bred High Five (by Bretton Woods x Latano) were the runners-up with 82.5 points and a 90 from the test rider. Martina van Vliet and the KWPN bred Hero of Holland (by Apache x Metall) were third with 82.5 and 85 points.

In the 5-year old division Young Rider Jeanine Nieuwenhuis scored the title aboard Great Lady TC (by Bretton Woods x Osmium). The horse won the first round with 87.5 points and also got a 10 from Van Mierlo. Simone Both and Gipsy TC (by Belissimo x Gouverneur) were the reserves with 84.5 and 90 points. Justine Mudde and the Dutch bred Genetic Black (by Jazz x Gribaldi) followed closely in third place with 83.5 points and 85. points.
