With Dressage Canada having put an omerta on its precise Olympic qualification criteria, Canadian website Equestrian Connection has been keeping an unofficial Canadian Rio Olympic Rio Olympic ranking list, which is firmly led by Belinda Trussell.
The declared Canadian riders for Rio only know so far that there are four criteria that are part of the total secret Rio selection procedure. Those criteria are: Four (4) scores achieved within the period of January 1, 2016 to July 3, 2016; A maximum of two (2) scores can be from the Grand Prix Special; A maximum of two (2) scores can be from the same competition; All scores must be a minimum of 68%.
Canada is eligible to send two individual riders to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. One slot was achieved by Trussell at the 2015 Pan American Games and the second slot was achieved by Megan Lane thanks to a top place in the FEI Group D and E on the FEI Olympic Athletes Ranking List.
