The under saddle premier of Frascino at the 2016 Spring Breeders' Meeting at Dressage Performance Centre Lodbergen in Germany, on Sunday 10 April 2016, was a great success. The 3-year old Hanoverian stallion Frascino convinced in his first public appearance under saddle with Lukas Fischer on board.
Frascino, who was discovered in The Netherlands by Urs Schweizer, showed an energetic performance with a high level of swing and ideal self carriage. His ground covering, forward walk approaches the ideal. "You could also clearly see Frascino's stand out character," said Lodbergen managing director Urs Schweizer. "This stallion is always the king of hearts."
The numerous guests at the Spring Breeders' Meeting were no less impressed by the Trakehner elite stallion candidate Herakles, presented for the first time by Lodbergen's head trainer Therese Nilshagen/SWE. The 7-year old black son of Dressage World Sire Ranking second Gribaldi is on his way to his first starts at S-level and will soon be adding more achievements to his list, which already includes the victory in the Trakehner Riding Horse Championship and numerous placings in international tests for young dressage horses.
Under Kira Wulferding, the just 7-year old For Romance (by Furst Romancier x Sir Donnerhall I) stood out executing S-level movements, tempi changes and pirouettes. This year the double licensing champion dominated with his first crop of young colts at the licensings all over Germany. He produced the Westfalian reserve licensing champion Federico Fellini and the Oldenburg premium stallion For Final amongst others.
The 5-year old Hanoverian premium stallion and Bundeschampionate bronze medal winner First Ampere and his rider Tessa Frank have the World Young Horse Championships set as goal for the year. The bay stallion, who is a very masculine built son of Ampere, has a great amount of cadence and ability to collect. He brought some of his offspring to the Spring Meeting, just like Follow Me OLD, Rock For Me, Rubin Royal OLD and Dante Weltino OLD.
"The first crop of foals by Dominy gave much reason to celebrate. The stallion passes on great nobility and strong movements and produces correctly built, typey foals," said Schweizer. The chestnut by Diamond Hit x Pour Plaisir was successful as a 3-year old at the 2015 Bundeschampionate.
Foals were the focal point of the 2016 Spring Breeders' Meeting and they will remain so at the next events held in Lodbergen. On Monday 25 April 2016 the Oldenburg society (GOV) will be branding foals and on Saturday 18 June 2016 the 6th Lodbergen Foal Championship will take place, where breeders can get their foals qualified for the 2016 German Foal Championships in Lienen. The foal summer will be concluded with a last Oldenburg branding session on Thursday 23 June 2016, where in previous years more than 100 foals have already been presented to the critical eyes of the Oldenburg foal assessment committee.
