The Nurnberger Burgpokal, the German show circuit for developing Prix St Georges horses, is celebrating its 25th edition in 2016 and the circuit kicked off on Thursday 21 April 2016 at the 2016 CDI Hagen Horses & Dreams Meets Denmark at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen, Germany. Ingrid Klimke and Isabel Freese were the winners of the warm-up round held today.
This year the Nurnberger Burgpokal has slightly changed it format. The warm-up round is now mandatory for all riders and the 12 highest scoring pairs qualify for the Finals test. Hagen is the first station of the 2016 Nurnberger circuit and the finals test will be held Saturday 23 April 2016 at the Almased Dressage Stadium in Hagen.
Thirty-one riders contested the warm up class, the Prix St Georges Special, and they were divided into two groups. Winner of group one was Ingrid Klimke on the licensed stallion Franziskus (by Fidertanz x Alabaster) with 73.512%. She was also the high scorer of the entire class. Norwegian Isabel Freese, who is an assistant trainer at Paul Schockemohle's stallion station, won group 2 aboard Furst Levantino with 72.244%. Kira Wulferding on Benaglio and Helen Langehanenberg on Suppenkasper both finished second, while the third place in both groups were taken by Ingrid Klimke on Geraldine and Ann Christin Wienkamp on Frizzantino.
The CDI Intermediaire I was won by German team rider Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on the tall 11-year old Hanoverian Dante's Peak, which was previously trained by Jessica's brother Benjamin Werndl. They scored 74.289% for victory. Danish Daniel Bachmann Andersen and the Dutch warmblood licensed stallion Don Olymbrio (by Jazz x Ferro) were the runners-up with 73.763%, followed by Helen Langehanenberg on the Holsteiner mare Annabelle (by Conteur x Linaro) with 71.895%.
