Belgian Grand Prix team rider Jorinde Verwimp will resign from her position of assistant trainer at Anky van Grunsven's stable in Erp, The Netherlands. The 21-year old Jorinde has been working at Anky's since 2012.
As a young rider Jorinde Verwimp and her Dutch warmblood Tiamo (by Lester x Hemmingway) won kur to music bronze at the 2014 European Young Riders Championships in Arezzo, Italy. She made a very smooth transition to Grand Prix level only a few months later via the Under 25 division. In 2015 she became an Belgian A-team member and represented her country at the 2015 European Championships in Aachen, where she was Belgium's highest scoring rider.
Since 2012 Verwimp has been trained by Anky and working at her yard as an assistant trainer.
"My adventure at the stable of Anky van Grunsven is almost coming to an end," Verwimp explained. "Four years ago when I started at Anky's we had put "Rio 2016" as goal. We are still busy training and staying in top form as a back-up for Rio. Afterwards I'll return home and work with my own horses and training horses. Of course I will continue to train with Anky and Sjef. It is time for a new chapter in my life."
Jorinde Verwimp is based in Wiekevorst, Belgium, and works alongside her father, Grand Prix rider and horse dealer Wim Verwimp.
