Twenty-six Grand Prix combinations are entered to compete in the big tour classes at the 2016 Danish Dressage Championships held at Broholm Castle in Boholm on 16 - 19 June 2016. Broholm is also the first mandatory selection trial . Biggest absentee on the starting list is Lars Petersen on Marica Pepper's 18-year old mare Mariett.
Ten Grand Prix combinations are submitted to the Danish Olympic long list and competing in Broholm was mandatory to be considered for Danish team selection for the 2016 Rio Olympics. The second mandatory trial is the CDIO Aachen in July.
After scoring well at the 2016 Dressage in Florida show circuit, Lars Petersen and Mariett were supposed to travel to Europe for the trials but they cancelled last minute.
"I think her age is starting to affect her a little," Petersen told Ridehesten. "She is fresher in the kur to music classes, when there is a good atmosphere in the stadium, but I think I should aim for more to get her ready in the other classes. If I can't ride her in top gear, there is no need to fly her home (to Denmark)." Petersen has decided to do a few more shows in the U.S.A. and then retire her "She has earned it. If she's good, It's good for me."
