Johan Rockx has officially been appointed Dutch team trainer and he will be supervising, guiding and observating the Dutch Olympic team candidates towards the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He will also be in charge of team selection.
Rockx has been assisting Duch team trainer, who was forced to take a step back when he got diagnosed with a brain tumour in December 2015. Despite the positive news that Ernes had undergone four chemo sessions and the tumour in his brain has become smaller, he is physically not fit enough to manage the Dutch team towards the Olympics. Ernes will continue to help Rockx in an advising role supported by the Dutch federation's technical staff.
Rockx' was appointed assistant team trainer in March and the 2016 CDI-W 's Hertogenbosch was the first show where he officiated in that role.
As team captain, Rockx will now be in charge of the team selection. This weekend he's at the CDI Roosendaal where he will pick the team for the 2016 European Under 25 Championships set to take place in Hagen in two weeks. He will also appoint the Dutch team for the 2016 Rio Olympics Games on 17 July after the Dutch Championships in Ermelo.
