The 5-year old De La Rose and the 6-year old Zirkon became the winners of the Bundeschampionate qualification classes held at the Burghof equestrian centre in in Riedstadt-Wolfskehlen, Germany on 28 - 29 May 2016. Eleven 5-year olds and nine 6-year olds gathered in Wolfskehlen to qualify for Warendorf.
The 5-year old division was judged by Jörg Beerhenke, Sabine Stitz, and Knut Danzberg and they placed Lena Berwe on Heinz-Dieter Poort's Hanoverian mare De La Rose (by Dancier x Frenchman) first. Stefanie Kerner, who now rides under her married last name Lugge, finished second on the bay Sir Sarkozy (by Sakozy x Carprilli). They tied with Jessica Küchler on Hansjorg Bauling's Hanoverian Sir Scolani (by Sir Donnerhall x Weltruhm). The scores achieved by the 5-year olds were not (yet) posted on the official website of the German federation.
Danzberg, Beerhenke and Anne Roßbach assessed the 6-year old dressage horses and saw a winner in Dorothee Schneider on Evelyn Haim-Swarovski's Rhinelander stallion Zirkon (by Zack x Sunny Boy). They scored the horse 8.4 and got 8 for walk, 8.5 for trot, 9 for canter, 8 for submission and 8.5 for general impression. Birgit Hild and Ingo Wittlich's Trakehner gelding Goldmond (by Imperio x Latimer) were the runners-up with 8.3. The dark bay gelding got 8.5 for calk, 8 for trot and canter and 8.5 for submission and general impression.
